Since 1979 David Yager has been a regular contributor and commentator in trade magazines and newspapers and on radio and television on business, economics, politics and public affairs. He is one of Alberta’s most experienced and respected analysts and commentators on energy policy, energy politics and the massive and complex oil and gas industry. In 2019 he released his first book titled From Miracle to Menace – Alberta, A Carbon Story.

Because of decades of working in the business and through his consulting, research and writing activities, David Yager is a recognized expert advice on the upstream oil and gas industry. He is regularly contacted by media sources and provides industry analysis on an advisory basis to boards, companies and oilfield service trade associations.

David Yager purchased his first business in 1979 and has since been a catalyst and investor in the creation and growth of several enterprises with national and international reach. He has been a founder, senior executive and director of three successful publicly traded oilfield service companies.

Through Yager Management Ltd., David Yager provides executive advisory and management consulting services to multiple clients, primarily in the oilfield services industry. This includes finance, mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, consolidation, business development and marketing. He also serves as an expert witness for complex legal issues involving the upstream oil and gas industry.

David Yager has had a life-long interest in public affairs and was a driving force behind the growth of Alberta’s Wildrose Party, now the United Conservative Party, as a candidate in 2012, fundraiser, and member of the Executive Committee. He was party president in 2013 and 2014.
